Read the following documents about the events that lead up the the American Revolution in 1776. Some of these documents are written for 4th and 5th graders. Others are written for 9th and 10th graders. Some are videos and web-links. What differences do you see?

Assignment

Create a newspaper in the style of newspapers around 1776 that covers the events and information found in the above documents. Your newspaper must either be written by American Colonist for American Colonist, or written by British Loyalist for British Loyalist.

Your newspaper must include:

    • A name for the newspaper
    • Headlines
    • A picture
    • A report on a "current" event that has an eye-witness report in it. 300 words.
    • An editorial
    • A puzzle
    • A comic
    • An advertisement

Remember that all these requirement should look an authentic item found in a real newspaper from around 1776.
